چکیده

The abelian HSP Recall that in the hidden subgroup problem, we are given a function f : G→ S (for a known group G and a finite set S) satisfying f(x) = f(y) iff x and y are in the same (left) coset of the hidden subgroup H ≤ G. In this lecture we will use additive notation for the group operation of an abelian group, so we have f(x) = f(x) iff x − y ∈ H. The strategy for the general abelian HSP closely follows the algorithm for the discrete log problem, which solves a particular instance of the HSP in ZN × ZN . We begin by creating a uniform superposition over the group,

Quantum algorithms ( CO 781 / CS 867 / QIC 823 , Winter 2013 ) Andrew

Having discussed lower bounds on quantum query complexity, we now turn our attention back to upper bounds. The framework of span programs is a powerful tool for understanding quantum query complexity. Span programs are closely related to the quantum adversary method, and can be used to show that the (generalized) adversary method actually characterizes quantum query complexity up to constant fa...

Quantum algorithms ( CO 781 / CS 867 / QIC 823 , Winter 2011 ) Andrew Childs , University of Waterloo LECTURE 17 : Quantum walk algorithm for formula evaluation

Grover’s algorithm for unstructured search can be viewed as evaluating the logical or of n bits in O( √ n) quantum queries. It is natural to ask about the quantum query complexity of other Boolean functions. In this lecture we will describe a quantum walk algorithm that evaluates a balanced binary and-or tree with n leaves in O( √ n) quantum queries. In fact, a similar approach shows that the q...

To understand nonabelian Fourier analysis, we first need to introduce some notions from group representation theory. For further information on this subject, a good basic reference is the book Linear Representations of Finite Groups by Serre. A linear representation (or simply representation) of a group G over the vector space Cn is a homomorphism σ : G → GL(Cn), i.e., a map from group elements...

Characterization of quantum interference control of injected currents in LT-GaAs for carrier-envelope phase measurements.

We use two mutually coherent, harmonically related pulse trains to experimentally characterize quantum interference control (QIC) of injected currents in low-temperature-grown gallium arsenide. We observe real-time QIC interference fringes, optimize the QIC signal fidelity, uncover critical signal dependences regarding beam spatial position on the sample, measure signal dependences on the funda...

The Flow of Information in Interactive Quantum Protocols: the Cost of Forgetting

In the context of two-party interactive quantum communication protocols, we study a recently defined notion of quantum information cost (QIC), which possesses most of the important properties of its classical analogue, see Ref. [Tou15]. Notably, its link with amortized quantum communication complexity has been used in Ref. [BGKK15] to prove an (almost) tight lower bound on the bounded round qua...
